Dave Tynan
Dave grew up in Dublin and wasn’t a child prodigy in chess, Ancient Hebrew or anything else. But he did find it weird when he went to other peoples’ houses and their families weren’t shouting or laughing at the dinner table. He studied film at The National Film School, IADT. He ran a Scam Soc one year while there and charged a two quid entry fee to take part in the scams. That was the scam. When not annoying the Student’s Union, he attended the Berlinale Talent Campus as a writer/director and had three short films shown at the Corona Cork Film Festival. The next year he participated in ENGAGE 2009, a MEDIA-funded training initiative and won a €2,000 prize for his TV pilot script. He’s since directed online work for O2 and Diageo. He was nominated for a Kinsale Shark for Best New Irish Director 2010 for his ‘Anadin’ test spot. He loves hip hop, Matthew McConnaughey films and talking rubbish in pubs, but refuses to believe kebab isn’t a group in the food pyramid. He’s not convinced he’s all that funny but he’s fairly sure the global standard is pretty low!
